Suspect Charged with Murder in UnitedHealthcare CEO's Killing: Latest Updates
A Maryland man was arrested at a McDonald's restaurant with what authorities describe as a 3D-printed gun and silencer and was charged Monday night with murder and multiple felonies related to the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Altoona, Pennsylvania, police, 26-year-old Luigi Nicholas Mangione also faces charges of forgery, tampering with records or identification, providing false ID to police, and possessing instruments of a crime. He was arraigned and held without bail.
Authorities stated that during Mangione's detention at the McDonald's, a search of his backpack revealed the 3D-printed handgun and silencer. Police, alerted by a tip from a restaurant employee, immediately recognized Mangione from widely circulated law enforcement photos after he removed his face mask at their request.
